Description
Alejandro “Felix” Isidro was born in the Philippines during the early 1900s (exact location and date of birth are unidentified). He traveled to the United States in 1920. Once arriving on the West Coast, Felix began migrating for agricultural work. Eventually, Felix met and married a Filipina-American woman named Lucia “Lucy” Golas. The couple settled in Watsonville and worked as sharecroppers at a ranch on Paulsen Road that grew tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. Lucy and Felix had six children: Frances Isidro (b. 1941 - d. 1949), Joseph "Joe" James Isidro (b. 1942), Felix Isidro Jr. (b. 1943), David Isidro (b. 1945), Robert Isidro (b. 1947- d. 1988), and Nancy Isidro (b. unidentified).
Lucy and Felix continued to live in Watsonville throughout their lives. Felix passed away in 2000.
The Isidro Family Collection was contributed to Watsonville is in the Heart in 2022 by Felix's and Lucy's son, Joseph "Joe" Isidro. The collection contains nine photographs depicting the Isidro family from the 1950s through the 2000s.
Lucy and Felix continued to live in Watsonville throughout their lives. Felix passed away in 2000.
