Bahay Kubo High Heels

Description

Hand-carved, beaded, wood, high-heeled sandals made in the Philippines. The front strap has multi-colored floral beadwork. The wooden heels are carved representations of bahay kubo (nipa huts common in the Philippines). The shoes belonged to Luisa Irao de los Reyes. She wore them to formal events held by community organizations such as the Filipino Women's Club, Filipino Catholic Association, and the Fil Visayan Association.
