Hand-Made Filipino Youth Club Pendant

Dublin Core

Title

Hand-Made Filipino Youth Club Pendant

Description

The hand-made pendant of the Filipino Youth Club. It likely made by either Joe Dangzalan or Ernest Carrillo. On one side, it says “Filipino” and the other side spells out “Pilipino.” Juanita Sulay Wilson, a member of the club, said that they decided to include both spellings in order to be inclusive of more folks in their community. The terminology was important because the manong and mixed-race community members often used “Filipino” while the newer migrants, particularly those related to the Filipina "war bride" families, used “Pilipino."
