Photograph of Uncle "Brownie" (first name) Banal and Anastacio "Tony" sitting in the Asuncion backyard on Buena Vista Drive. Manong Brownie is mentioned in Anastacio's essay Watsonville's Filipino Bachelor Community. Anastacio wrote this paper in 1970 while he was an undergraduate student at UC, Santa Cruz. Anastacio remembers Brownie bringing a gunny sack of roosters after cockfights, and his mom cooked them into a stew.
